LAGUNA chosen solution as new DTT Headend on ATSC
SAPEC has been awarded with the supply of the equipment for a new digital terrestrial broadcast ATSC headend on one of the main television platforms in Mexico.
After an exhaustive acceptancy test bench, the Mexican TV operator has selected the Laguna Media Processor (LMP) by SAPEC, to be the solution for its new ATSC headend consisting of, 4 independent video channels in 1+1 configuration.
Some of the essential requirements for this project were:
- The solution should be flexible, upgradable, and highly reliable.
- Flawlessly working with existing EPG.
- Allowing edition of ATSC tables.
- Insertion of channel identification into each video channel.
- BISS encryption independently per channel or service.
Laguna, besides for multiple channel contributions, is aslo an ideal solution for DTT applications, since it allows to have, in a single rack unit, a complete digital headend, allowing up to 8 independent channels (encoding or decoding) in H.264 or MPEG-2 HD/SD with internal multiplexer, IP and/or ASI output interfaces. and incorporation of all the tables necessary for digital broadcast according to ATSC standard, (LMP also supports DVB or ISDB-Tb). In addition, the LAGUNA solution is upgradeable to HEVC.
The equipment supports as other SAPEC solutions, hot-swappable redundant power supply, making maintenance much easier.
