LAGUNA DUAL: SAPEC extends LAGUNA SOLUTION with a new model
LAGUNA MEDIA PROCESSOR (LMP) solution by SAPEC, which until now had the OCTAL or QUAD models, has been expanded following the same philosophy with a new model, ideal for 1 and / or 2-channel applications: LAGUNA DUAL.
With LAGUNA DUAL, new possibilities appear for Broadcasters and service providers as it is an optimized solution for contribution applications in remote locations with densities of 1 or 2 channels (encoding, decoding or bidirectional).
LAGUNA DUAL, continuing with the philosophy of the solution, offers total configuration flexibility according to its capacity, and inherits all the functionalities of its older brothers (LAGUNA QUAD and OCTAL) as:
• Internal multiplexer (MPTS output)
• Bidirectionality (each channel can be configured as encoder or decoder)
• Each channel is totally independent in terms of profile, compression, Bit Rate …
• Up to 8x audio PID (Stereo) per video channel
• 3G/1080p (FHD) input
• BISS 1/E encryption
• 2x or 4x IP interfaces
• FEC SMPTE 2022-1 / 2 UDP / RTP Multicast & unicast (2 streams per video channel)
• Video pattern generator (colored bars, moving bars, etc.…) & audio
• Vertical interval (teletext, OP47 …)
• One Web user interface for all possible equipment configurations and channels.
• Internal storage to import/export multiple configurations (Presets)
• FW / SW update through the WEB GUI
• Exportable alarm log
• Redundant hot-swappable (AC / DC) power supply
In addition, and as new development, SAPEC has launched on LAGUNA DUAL and the rest of the models, support for the SCTE104-> SCTE35 conversion in the encoding side, which allows new applications such as locally inserting/replacing commercial content of the transmission, thus allowing Broadcasters to monetize your business resources in a more efficient way.
The possible Layouts that LAGUNA DUAL allows are based on the 2 Engines structure of the hardware platform:
The possibilities that this platform offers in terms of Layout, considering the Engines that each App uses/needs (HEVC encoder = 2 Engines, other apps only 1 Engine)
Every model is defined by a series of parameters:
Platform: HW Element with various Engines
Engines: Internal processing units where applications run
Apps: Functionalities (encoder, decoder, internal MUX …) that run on the Engines
Layout: Architecture loaded on platform based on the Apps´ functionality and number of engines.
Distribution number of Engines (processing units) and interfaces:

With this model, SAPEC offers three different versions of the LAGUNA solution in terms of channel density, or what is the same, processing capacity.
“LAGUNA DUAL completes the current range offered by the LAGUNA SOLUTION with a cost solution, processing capacity and number interfaces optimized for situations where our customers needed a density of up to 2 channels where QUAD and OCTAL models could be oversized. Laguna adapts in this way to the real needs of each project. An example of these projects are cases in which it is required to simultaneously send and receive the TV signal in remote production centres or information units. With DUAL, this need is covered and now each client can design their solution according to the project in front of them, playing with the greatest flexibility and versatility. This is the LAGUNA philosophy “- States Juan José Anaya, CTO at SAPEC.
LAGUNA MEDIA PROCESSOR (LMP), is a multi-channel solution for video contribution and distribution in professional Broadcast and Telecom environments. With the launch of the DUAL platform, SAPEC offers its customers three different hardware platforms in terms of density, internal processing capacity and available interfaces (DUAL, QUAD, OCTAL), which will allow the customer to make an efficient choice of the model to be used. best fit your project and budget. In addition, any model, since LMP is a software-defined solution, allows updating the internal architecture (Layout) when the client requires it.
