SAPEC presents the new UHD (4K) HEVC IRD
The new GREDOS GUR5002 IRDs (Integrated Receiver Decoder) from SAPEC allow HEVC HD/SD decoding and additionally are developed for HEVC UHD decoding. The equipment supplied is already in operation receiving the RTVE America signal produced in Spain for the American continent.
SAPEC, a Spanish company of compression solutions for the Broadcast and Telco industry, has expanded its range of IRDs from the GREDOS family with a new model that allows the reception and decoding of UHD signals besides 3G, HD and SD signals. This new model called GUR5002 also allows decoding of HEVC compressed signals in addition to H264 and MPEG2.
Like the rest of the GREDOS models, the new GUR5002 has various modules that allow great versatility to this IRD. Among the different modules we find:
• DVB-S/S/S2X satellite signal demodulator module.
• DTT signal demodulator module: DVB-T / T2, ATSC or ISDBTb
• Cable signal demodulator module: DVB-C / C2.
• IP module with double 1GbE / 10010Mbps interfaces.
GRU5002 has all the flexibility and characteristics typical of other GREDOS models such as: PID filtering, analogue and digital outputs, Down Conversion, BISS decryption, up to 2 CAM modules to allow decryption of signals by DVB-CI, intuitive WEB interface, sources redundant power,…
Sapec has been awarded the supply of 120 IRD GREDOS GRU5002, which will be used by different operators and service providers in different countries of the American continent. GREDOS GUR5002 will be used for satellite reception and decoding of the content generated by RTVE in Spain, for the entire American continent.
The chosen configuration of the supplied GUR5002, includes satellite reception through 4-port DVB-S/S2 (which can be configured in redundancy) and HEVC HD decoding in 4: 2: 0 and 10 bits. The GUR5002 model is mainly characterized by HEVC UHD (4K) support through a simple software update.
In addition, the units supplied have:
– H.264 and MPEG-2 support
– Dual Gigabit IP input / output in addition to ASI.
– 4x AES and 2x analogue audio outputs plus 1x Composite Video.
– Support for 2 CAM DVB-CI cards for multi-service decryption (Key-Fly system).
– Down-Conversion output, to simultaneously obtain SD and HD outputs.
– Redundant AC PSU.

The equipment supplied is already in operation throughout the American continent. The installation and commissioning have been carried out in the respective countries receiving content from RTVE America for this project. The distribution has been:
Argentina: 15 units
Chile: 50 units
Ecuador: 20 units
Peru: 20 units
Uruguay: 15 units
