Madrid, 10 September 2024.-
SAPEC, a European developer with decades of experience in audiovisual signal transport solutions, will be showcasing its full arsenal of solutions at IBC 2024, as well as the flagship developments of its partners. Stand 1.C93 will be a must-see for anyone interested in major sports coverage, as its flagship products SIVAC-ONE and LAGUNA will be on display for RTVE’s broadcast of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the summer’s biggest sporting event. LAGUNA, which was also part of the UEFA Euro 2024 broadcast in Germany, will land in Amsterdam with a major European first: a new and much-demanded version with SMPTE 2110 interface. In addition, SIVAC-ONE will debut its much-requested 12G interfaces, both optical and electrical, while the GREDOS II family will demonstrate its ability to transport up to two TV channels (HD/SD) and radio via satellite. The SAPEC team will be on hand at IBC 2024 to meet visitors’ every need, to share all the keys to the great success stories of recent months and, in short, to show how the equipment it has developed is more than ready to meet the industry’s biggest challenges: from the most ambitious coverage of a global event to the day-to-day needs of a radio or television station’s territorial centres.
SIVAC-ONE, from Paris 2024 Olympic Games together with RTVE, to IBC 2024 One of the main attractions of SAPEC’s presence at IBC 2024 will be the opportunity to discover first-hand the latest enhancements to SIVAC-ONE, a modular platform with ultra-low latency (less than 170ms glass-to-glass) FPGA-based encoding and decoding for UHD-HDR. This solution, both powerful and resilient to the complexities of UHD environments, will be available for the first time in Europe with the new 12G interface in electrical and optical modes, a widely requested option that facilitates its integration into first-level UHD production. Used by leading broadcasters and production companies in Europe and Latin America, among others, SIVAC-ONE played a leading role in RTVE’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Spanish public broadcaster used the platform’s twelve encoder/decoder pairs to transport UHD signals from capture at its Trocadero studio and IBC in Paris, France, to Torrespaña in Madrid. The broadcast feeds took full advantage of Ultra High Definition: 4K, HDR (High Dynamic Range), WCG (Wide Colour Space), HFR (High Frame Rate) and immersive audio supported by Dolby technology. RTVE also benefited from SIVAC-ONE’s ability to transport content using the SRT standard, a backup solution that proved very useful during the event. All these technologies, masterfully deployed by RTVE’s engineering and operations team with the advice of SAPEC, made it possible to create a global milestone: the first free-to-air broadcast of the event in UHD via DTT. SIVAC-ONE will also demonstrate at IBC 2024 its ability to handle UHD/3G/HD signals with WCG and HDR signalling for remote contribution based on HEVC/H.265, capabilities that translate into the ability to handle resolutions up to 2160p50/60 4K UHD. All this is achieved with extremely low power consumption, demonstrating SAPEC’s strong commitment to helping companies meet their environmental goals.
LAGUNA: European debut and prominent role at the Olympics and UEFA Euro 2024 Compatible with HEVC, H-264 and MPEG-2 standards, the multi-channel UHD/HD/SD LAGUNA platform will be at IBC 2024 to demonstrate its versatility and low latency in each of its four versions: SINGLE (single channel), DUAL (dual channel), QUAD (quad channel) and OCTAL (eight channel). After its first steps at NAB 2024, where it received a fantastic response from the American industry, the Amsterdam event will mark the European premiere of LAGUNA’s long-awaited SMPTE 2110 interface, compatible with the SMPTE set of standards for sending and receiving IP feeds. In addition, the signal contribution and distribution solution will demonstrate support for the RIST protocol for the first time at IBC. This Video Service Forum initiative for transporting content over public networks features bonding capabilities, packet loss correction that can affect up to 45% of the content, multicast support and compatibility with different encryption systems such as PSK (Pre-Shared Key) or DTLS (Datagram Transport Layer Security). LAGUNA has played a leading role in RTVE’s coverage of two of this summer’s biggest sporting events: UEFA Euro 2024 and the Paris Olympic Games. The team of SAPEC experts will be at IBC 2024 to share all the keys to this deployment, which has enabled the Spanish broadcaster to reach some of its largest audiences of the year. Visitors to the SAPEC stand at IBC 2024 will also be able to discover the latest enhancements to the H.264/MPEG-2 encoder family with integrated GREDOS II modulator, a solution ready to support up to two video channels (SD/HD) and audio channels simultaneously with MPEG-1/AAC/Dolby AC3 and EAC3 compression and optionally HEVC, both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2:2 profiles. GREDOS II can integrate two types of modulators: Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) with support for the American ATSC or ISDB-TB standard, or a satellite modulator (DVB-S/S2/S2x).
SAPEC’s partner ecosystem at IBC 2024 As well as showcasing its full range of solutions, SAPEC will be highlighting its commitment to supporting key players in the European broadcast industry across the board by exhibiting high quality solutions developed by some of its key partners. In this regard, the Spanish company’s stand will offer first-hand knowledge of the solutions and services for quality control of audiovisual content using artificial intelligence and the MOS parameter of Video-MOS. Specifically, at IBC 2024, the technology company will present the optimised version of the design of its AI engine, which reduces the computational load and increases the already high accuracy of the semantic measurement of the Quality of Experience (QoE) of video without reference. This breakthrough was recently published by IEEE (see article). SAPEC will also present the latest developments of The CornerCam, the state-of-the-art solution that combines classic football corner flags with two horizontal remote-controlled cameras in HD 1080i resolution. These cameras, connected to the mobile units by fibre optics, are remotely controlled by a joystick system and a pre-selection and multi-screen tool developed by SAPEC and tested by the RFEF in several top-level matches. In addition, the SAPEC team will provide full information on the Acromove system, a private 5G network solution for high-bandwidth, low-latency broadcast signal transport. Javier Palenciano, SAPEC’s Sales and Marketing Director, sees IBC 2024 as “the perfect opportunity” to showcase how the Spanish company’s ecosystem of solutions and partners can help meet all the needs of the broadcast industry: “As UHD consolidates with major sporting events and SMPTE ST 2110 environments are adopted by more and more broadcasters, SAPEC is proud to remain at the forefront to meet the needs of every production. From the simplest contribution to the biggest summer sporting event, our solutions are ready to adapt to the evolution of each broadcaster. We are pleased and proud to once again demonstrate our continued evolution at IBC 2024.”
