- SAPEC will launch GREDOS II, a solution ready to combine encoding functions with a terrestrial modulator.
- SIVAC-ONE, a real-time HEVC/H.265 encoding/decoding solution up to 2160p50/60 4K UHD, receives the widely demanded SRT functionality.
Madrid, April 12th 2023.- SAPEC returns to NAB 2023, the world’s largest trade show dedicated to broadcast, entertainment and new media, to showcase a number of new products from 16-19 April at its booth W4045, located in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Over the last twelve months, the SAPEC team has worked hard to improve its entire catalogue, developing features that respond to the most frequent cases in the broadcast world, and anticipating the future needs of a sector that is looking for versatility in its processes, continuing its commitment to 4K and taking advantage of the benefits of distribution over the public internet.
The result of this R&D effort can be discovered first-hand at booth W4045, where a large representation of the SAPEC team will show all the details of its products and will perform in real time several demos with which visitors can experience the main features of its solutions.
UHD decoding, immersive audio and more at LAGUNA
LAGUNA, the multi-channel HD/SD platform supporting HEVC, H.264 and MPEG standards, returns to NAB 2023 with UHD decoding as its main attraction. Unlockable through a licence, the QUAD and OCTAL models of SAPEC’s solution will be able to handle Ultra High Definition decoding according to the capabilities of each device. Thus, the QUAD model (LMP4000) can decode one UHD source or four HD sources, while the OCTAL option (LMP8000) can handle two UHD sources or eight HD sources.
This is not SAPEC’s only bet on the evolution towards new resolutions and technological possibilities in broadcasting, as, in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute, the LAGUNA models will be able to handle the immersive audio standard MPEG-H, a solution that is becoming increasingly popular.
Similarly, the Spanish manufacturer, with offices in Mexico, has enhanced the LAGUNA platform with new features such as thumbnail display, so that the DUAL, QUAD and OCTAL models can display a mosaic of each SDI signal that is processed by the system through a web browser; the ability to perform analysis and monitoring functions through the ETR 290 specification; or the ability to use the LAGUNA as gateways, so that if the system receives an SRT signal, for example, it will be possible to forward the same signal simultaneously to the decoding of an SMPTE 2022 network and vice versa.
LAGUNA 2004 and 4008 models
SAPEC will also bring to NAB 2023 two new versions of LAGUNA, designed to offer broadcasters the ability to work with more SDI interfaces.
The new LAGUNA DUAL LMP2004 has all the features of the standard LAGUNA DUAL LMP2000 with the difference of including four HD-SDI interfaces instead of two. The new LAGUNA QUAD LMP4008 also differs from the LAGUNA QUAD LMP4000 in that it has eight interfaces instead of the usual four. This expansion of the SDI interfaces will allow users to have each of the encoders with its corresponding ASI output, or to have simultaneous HD and SD outputs, among other benefits.
New GREDOS II
Aimed specially at the US and Latin American market, the GREDOS II is an update to the current needs of the advantages that the GREDOS brought to the broadcast industry in Spain and Latin America.
This new family of H.264/MPEG2 encoders with integrated modulator supports up to two video channels (SD/HD) and audio channels simultaneously with MPEG2/AAC/AC-3 compression and, optionally, HEVC, both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2:2 profiles. In addition to these capabilities, the system can integrate two types of modulators: Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) with support for the American ATSC or ISDB-TB standard, or a satellite modulator (DVB-S/S2/S2x).
The system has up to two video inputs (SDI / HD-SDI) or one 3G-SDI input, whose signals can be multiplexed to generate an MPTS with both programmes and up to 16 channels of embedded mono audio (8 stereo pairs) on each video channel. With the ability to configure each programme as Digital TV, Digital Radio or 1-Seg (only for the ISDB-Tb option), GREDOS II features RF DTT or Satellite outputs, two IP outputs with SMPTE2022 1/2/7 support with optional SRT, and an ASI option. Other advantages of this system, which will debut in Las Vegas, are its logo insertion capability on each video source; its management through a web browser, access through which the thumbnails of each video input can be checked; front display, or SNMP alarm management.
SRT functionality comes to SIVAC-ONE
Finally, SAPEC’s SIVAC-ONE UHD-capable encoder/decoder will debut at NAB 2023 its support for the SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) protocol, a solution that optimises real-time streaming by providing a secure and reliable solution for video contribution over unmanaged networks.
The benefits of this protocol, now available with an optional licence, include end-to-end AES 128/256 encryption; protection against bandwidth fluctuations and packet loss; low latency; and open-source nature.
The SIVAC-ONE, a real-time HEVC/H.265 encoding/decoding solution up to 2160p50/60 4K UHD based on the high-performance SMP1000 card, will be present in its Compact model so that visitors to NAB 2023 can discover first-hand the capabilities of the solution that enabled the UHD broadcast of the last World Cup in Qatar on Spanish DTT.
All these solutions can be discovered from stand W4045, where the SAPEC team will be available to show how each of the company’s solutions can be adapted to the most common workflows in the Broadcast context.
