Fourth generation of ALTUM

The fourth SAPEC generation of the successful encoders currently in the market, the ALTUM, are now named ALTUM II and have lower consumption, more functionality and a lower cost.

The main innovations offered by the Altum II devices are the great improvement of the compression algorithms (lower bit-rate, but same picture quality); reduction of the total video to video latency by 20% and the environmental commitment to the improvement of energy efficiency (reduction of consumption  by more than 50%). In addition, they have a more powerful processing technology and a bigger front display, from where the configuration parameters can be set.

Another innovation introduced by the Altum II is the upcoming incorporation of Simulcrypt encryption to the encoders, which adds to the BISS already available. Altum II are designed to offer high-quality video distribution and now they also have VideoFlow’s Digital Video Protection (DVP), which means that these devices are built to guarantee the highest quality within any live video broadcast over non-managed networks, such as an Internet connection.

Altum II maintains the functionalities and features that SAPEC already had in their ALTUM predecessors, including: ASI and IP interface with FEC (Forward Error Connection); internal management of N+1 redundancy with no external elements; AC/DC power source with possibility of redundancy; remote management and update via WEB/SNMP; Dolby AC3 and AC3+ encoding and possibility of BISS encryption.

The SD models can be upgraded to HD at any time to any of the compression algorithms (MPEG-2, H.264) and profiles (4:2:0/4:2:2).
