Madrid, (23/05/16).-
TELEVISA is the media and content Mexican Company leader of audience in Mexico Free To Air (FTA) television. Due to the analog television switch-off in December 2015, the company had to evaluate different options according Mexico ATSC standard to broadcast digital terrestrial TV signal to all remote locations of the country. In mid 2015, TELEVISA performed several tests with different manufacturers to decide the purchase of new technologies that can provide reliable DTT transmissions.
The project was broadcasting TELEVISA signal to small villages with low population to accomplish the law which force all Broadcasters to migrate to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) all their contents, leaving behind the analog TV transmission in Mexico.
SAPEC was present in the test process with GREDOS equipment. GREDOS is a product family developed and manufactured by Sapec that includes the video encoder with built-in modulator in only 1RU. GREDOS reduces costs without compromising the quality of the encoded signals, allows passing electronic program guide (EPG), as well as configure required parameters and generates all necessary tables to drive the internal ATSC modulator which deliver the modulated signal to the RF amplifier for broadcasting.
The solution includes the development of RF Power Amplifier management to configure and control the whole system. It means that, from a single WEB GUI application, users can modify any parameter of the system from input format to the power of the amplifier in a very user friendly interface. To this point, SAPEC`s able to offer an ATSC header solution, perfect for this signal transmission compliant with Digital Terrestrial Television standards. It reduces costs and the technical solution is composed by only two devices: the GREDOS encoder/ modulator by SAPEC and the RF digital amplifier, all conceived and designed for an easy operation.
This project started in the second half of 2015 and there are more than 200 equipments installed and fully operational right now. Another 200 equipments will be performed, supplied and installed during the first half of 2.016. It´s a considerable number of equipments that supports the reliability and integration made by SAPEC .
