SAPEC´s 4K solution is the chosen one for the new UHD channel of CMM TV
Madrid, january 7th 2020
Castilla La Mancha Televisión (CMMTV), which from 2001 has been broadcasting to the whole region, third largest of Spain and with more than 2.000.000 residents spread over more than 900 different towns, has launched its the new UHD channel from last 11th of December.
This transmission, with both CMMTV and RTVE’s content, were coded in real time by SAPEC using the technology of the new SivacOne Media Processor (SMP), which allow a very high image quality (as required by new UHD signals) in a reduced bandwidth, and with a coding latency below 150ms.
The coding has been carried out in accordance with the UHD content standard for broadcasting (HEVC coding, 4: 2: 0-10 Bits), incorporating quality improvements of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and enhanced colour (WCG).
SMP (Sivac One Media Processor) is a state-of-the-art encoder card developed by SAPEC for the Sivac One modular platform that can accommodate up to 3 cards in a 1U rack. The SMP card supports 1 UHD channel (4K) or up to 4 FHD / HD channels. Therefore, Sivac One solution together with SMP cards, offer a channel density of up to 12x FHD / HD or 3x UHD in a unit of one height unit (1 RU). See the SMP datasheet
“It has been an honour for us to be chosen by CMMTV to start up its new UHD channel and work in a technologically demanding environment, which is where the SAPEC R&D team operates comfortably. The density of this solution and the low latency have been factors of interest for CMMTV, and we are happy to have responded technologically to the requirements of this project. We will continue to work in this line, and we are sure that SMP1000 will be a reference in the 4K market”-states Juan Jose Anaya, CTO of SAPEC.
With this project, SAPEC shows its technological potential in UHD technology, demonstrating a clear investment of time and resources in the design of a very competitive UHD solution at a technological and commercial level.
