SAPEC enters successfully in the portable codec market with IKUSNET2BP solution Prodys
After just a few months of commercial cooperation for the distribution of video solutions between the two Spanish companies, SAPEC is awarded by Canal Sur Televisión for the supply of several portable 3G / 4G video encoders & decoders.
At the beginning of 2020, both companies agreed on a commercial cooperation seeking the synergy to increase revenue and market presence by using the commercial resources and professional experience of each company. Along these lines, SAPEC has intensified its commercial activity in the video transport sector during these months to distribute Prodys video solutions. Prodys is a Madrid-based company, specialized in audio and video compression and transmission technologies, with a strong international presence in the audio market.
As a result of the successful cooperation, SAPEC has been awarded by Canal Sur TV with the first project including Prodys equipment. This has been thanks to the high reliability and versatility of the IKUSNET2 solution. The awarded portable encoders are the IKUSNET2 BP, second generation of portable encoders (rucksacks) that will be used to make the live contribution of TV production equipment outdoors.

Some of the main technical characteristics of this solution are:
- Support HEVC/H.264 HD/SD compression of signals in 3G-HDSDI format
- Compression and streaming up to 4 channels of embedded audio from th
- Independent two-way talkback channel, with very low delay.
- Bonding of up to 8 3G / 4G interfaces
- Transmission/reception through the BRAVE Protocol (patented protocol, which allows the video encoding bitrate to be dynamically varied according to the network capacity, parallel transmission through all available IP interfaces (diversity) and the active packet recovery) or Standard MPEG-TS protocols over UDP / IP and RTMP.
- FEC, Error Concealment and Active Recovery of Lost Packets
- File recording and fast FTP upload by adding data links.
- Weight under 1.8 kg
Regarding the receivers, the chosen solution has been the IKUSNET2 ST DEC model.
IKUSNET2 ST DEC
IKUSNET2 ST DEC, allows 3GHDSDI decoding in both HEVC and H.264. It supports up to 4 channels of embedded audio channels and include a two-way talkback channel. Besides Genlock, the IKUSNET ST DEC also supports recording, reproduction, reception and FTP retransmission of files (USB interface, allowing integration of an internal HDD).
An important element of the award has been the Prodys Control Plus software. An intuitive client-server management software that allows centralizing the monitoring and management of alarms in real time, in both backpacks and receivers (as well as other Prodys audio equipment).

Prodys Control Plus allows to automatically detect the equipment in the network (Ethernet, 3G/4G or WIFI).
IKUSMATRIX, a Prodys Control Plus tool which facilitates the management of connections between the backpack and the stationary equipment, has also been included in the project.
IKUSMATRIX allows to establish the connections through a simple “drag & drop” method in the web interface. Including the two-way talkback channel and a very useful preview of the signals.

With this project, the cooperation strategy between these two companies is confirmed and sets another reference for both in the Broadcast market and portable video encoding solutions.
