SAPEC FOUNDER PARTNER OF UHD SPAIN ORGANIZATION
The UHD Spain association held an event last January 26th at the Polytechnic University of Madrid to officially found the association. The objective of UHD Spain is to promote 4K, 8K, HDR, the New Audio Generation and new audio-visual technologies in Spain so that consumers receive content with the highest possible quality.
SAPEC founding partner of the organization, has been part of all the discussions since its inception when he was invited by Medina Media to join this interesting project.
UHD Spain was born with 30 partners among which we find production companies, Broadcasters, telecommunication operators, broadcast sector service companies, professional associations, technology development companies, such as Sapec, and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
A great potential of UHD Spain is that the range of partners that form the group, cover the whole value chain of the professional Broadcast ecosystem spectrum, besides including international representation.
In the act of constitution, the statutes were approved, and the first Board of Directors was elected, which will be composed of six entities: RTVE, Cellnex, Mediapro, Hispasat, Ametic and Medina Media, and chaired by the Director of Planning and Technological Innovation of Radio Television Spanish (RTVE), Pere Vila.
UHD Spain will also have the peculiarity of being the only one that has the backing of the three most important organizations worldwide in this field:

SAPEC has been very active since 2012, in the evolution and development of UHD technology both nationally and internationally. Looking back a few years, we can find different SAPEC contributions in development projects, where the Spanish company put its know-how and resources to the service of UHD in some pioneering applications:
- 2013 – 2016 EUREKA PROJECT UHD4U: Innovation Award UHDTV
- DVBWorld 2013: World´s 1st UHDTV (4K) transmission over DVB-S2
- MWC 2014: World´s first UHDTV (4K@50P) on HEVC over DVB-T2
- MWC 2015: UHDTV (4K@50P) encoded at HEVC over MPEG-DASH
- SMPTE 2016 Conference: “HEVC Mezzanine Compression for UHD transport over SDI&IP infrastructures.”

SAPEC, again demonstrates with its participation, its cooperative spirit in high technology and development environments of the Broadcast sector and especially, on Ultra High Definition (UHD). Just three months ago, SAPEC already participated actively and with an important role in the first worldwide transmission of UHD 8K content over DVB-T2.

Commercially, SAPEC launched its first UHD product to the market in 2016, the HEVC decoder: AVANTOS UHD; which is being used to receive the most important matches of the Spanish soccer league throughout more than 20 European countries. Avantos was awarded as the Best Broadcasting and Distribution Technology product in 2016 by Panorama Audiovisual magazine.
Last year SAPEC introduced its new, versatile, and compact UHD HEVC encoding solution called Sivac-ONE Media Processor, which supports up to 3x UHD HEVC channels (HDR, WCG) in a 1U.
