Over the coming weeks RTVE will be integrating systems acquired from SAPEC. The ALTUM II family of encoders and decoders were acquired by RTVE for the contributions between Torrespaña and the Congress of Deputies. This acquisition forms part of the Parliament Channel infrastructure renewal project, which RTVE has taken advantage of to improve its communications with the Chamber. The project will feature AHE6212 encoders and AHD6212 decoders from the Altum II family, an evolution of the Altum range of devices, which is already being used by RTVE for contribution in its Regional Centers and other areas.
The systems selected by RTVE allow for contributions over ASI and IP, and they support the MPEG-2 and H.264 algorithms both in SD and HD, and 4:2:0/4:2:2. They also feature dual hot-swappable power supplies, allowing for substitution in the case of breakdown without damaging the communication or operation of the equipment.
With this implementation, SAPEC continues its well-established collaboration with RTVE, providing equipment for its technological upgrades and improvement of its links. RTVE once again entrusts its technological improvements to SAPEC, the principal supplier of compression systems for the contributions between its offices.
