SAPEC has recently participated in multiple R&D+i projects. Specifically, in the MINER, PROFIT, AVANZA, CENIT and PIE programs, among others. Likewise, it has taken part in different European programs such as Catrene and Itea-2.

They are all related to SAPEC’s R&D+i objectives.

We currently have the following significant ongoing projects:

Development, real-time implementation and optimisation of a novel video encoder under ITU-T H.265 (HEVC) standard for non-managed IP networks.

The purpose of this project is the design and development of a novel high-efficiency video encoder that allows for the provision of audio-visual contribution professional services using the Internet as a transport network, providing the encoder with the necessary network intelligence to precisely adapt the bit rate of the encoder to the network conditions, thus offering a safe and high-quality contribution service, over a non-managed network such as the Internet.

SAPEC will count on the invaluable collaboration on the project of the public research centre of the iTEAM (Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications), belonging to the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), a public research body highly renowned in the area of video encoding and mobile multimedia communications. Project funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, within the Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation Plan 2013-2016 in the framework of the Economy and Digital Society Strategic Action (AEESD), year 2014, with file number TSI-100102-2014-113.

 PLEASE

Advanced High-Efficiency Platform for Content Distribution

(PLataforma alta Eficiencia Avanzada para diStribución de contEnidos)

Project PLEASE consists of the specification, design and development of a content distribution platform, using high-efficiency video encoding and dynamic content distribution systems through cloud-based techniques.

Project in collaboration with: RETEVISION (project leader), CIRES21, SAPEC, G@TV Group of the Technical University of Madrid, subcontracted by Retevision.

Project financed by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, within the Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation Plan 2013-2016 in the framework of the Economy and Digital Society Strategic Action (AEESD), year 2014, with file number TSI-100102-2014-0078.

Project of international collaboration with Catrene CA-112 label within the Eureka European framework.

SAPEC is the national coordinator of this project involving SAPEC Tecnologia, the University of Cantabria and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In this project, Sapec uses new parallel multiprocessing platforms which are being defined to develop applications that can be integrated in the new encoding devices.

Project funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, INNPACTO 2012 Subprogram with file number IPT-2012-0847-430000.

UHD-4U

END TO END 4K ULTRA HIGH DEFINITION TV FOR EUROPE

Project of international collaboration with Catrene label. This project covers the entire value chain of an UHD system, from the capture and processing to the viewing by the final user. Sapec is in charge of the contribution links part, specifying and developing equipment for the high quality and availability links. In addition, as leaders of a work package, Sapec is in charge of coordinating the work of the entire UHD signals capture and distribution part.

Project funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, within the Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation Plan 2013-2016 in the framework of the Economy and Digital Society Strategic Action (AEESD), year 2013, with file number TSI-100101-2013-125.

The main purpose of this project is the development of a platform that provides video and television distribution services through IP (IPTV) for 3G/LTE/4G terminals using femtocell-based technology. In this project, Sapec is developing encoding devices for OTT head-ends, where video signals are encoded to different qualities and resolutions, with specific requirements.

Project in collaboration with: Alcatel Lucent, Technical University of Madrid, Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes (GTI) and Sapec.

Project funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, INNPACTO 2012 Subprogram, with file number IPT-2012-0306-430000.
