On September 9 to 13, SAPEC returned to the IBC fair in Amsterdam to showcase its wide range of systems, which it has been designing and manufacturing since 1976. Four decades of dedication to excellence and high quality products have made SAPEC a name of reference in the audiovisual industry throughout the entire world.
One of the outstanding innovations on display this year was the first prototype of the UHD HEVC Main422P/10 bits in real time decoder for 4K resolution. Forming part of the AVANTOS family of encoders and decoders, this system received a TS in real time during the course of the fair which was decoded and displayed for everyone to see on a 60-inch screen at stand 1F27.
Another innovation was the evolution of the GREDOS family, designed for satellite links. As of October 2016, they are available with HEVC compression both in the encoder/modulator and the IRD – the best solution for satellite transmission using HEVC compression, ideal for application such as DSNG video contributions via satellite.
The new GREDOS HEVCs incorporate an encoder for Main and Main422 profiles, 10 bits, and DVB-S/S2/S2X modulator in 1RU. The combination of these two technologies reduces the bandwidth required, thereby reducing satellite link costs.
SAPEC also showcased the ALTUM-II range for ASI/IP in H.264 contributions and distribution, as well as the SIVAC One modular encoder, which is based on H.264/MPEG-2 cards.

SAPEC’S presence at IBC Amsterdam was complemented by offering products from a number of companies that also distribute in Spain. At stand 1F27, information was made available for the APT, Nevion, Sencore and Videoclarity range of products, and attendees could visit these manufacturer’s stands together with a SAPEC team member.
